CNN’s Harry Enten Has Good News For Those Hoping All Of Trump’s Nominees Get Confirmed

CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten found on Wednesday that all of President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees are highly likely to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

Enten said the Senate has not rejected a single nominee since 1925, when the president’s party controlled the chamber, while Congress has rejected a nominee since 1989 while controlled by the opposition. has not refused approval. A total of 29 cabinet nominees have been declined or rejected since the founding of the United States, making it highly likely that Trump’s nominations will make it through the confirmation process.

“[T]The conclusion here is very clear: very few ministerial nominations are withdrawn or rejected, and most pass… [a cabinet member getting rejected] It’s low, really, really low,” Enten said. “The last cabinet nomination was rejected under opposition control. We have to go back to 1989, which of course was 1989.” [former Texas Sen.] John Tower. What about the presidential party? We have to go back a century, to 1925. ”

On average, betting markets have a more than 95% chance that Trump’s nominees for attorney general, secretary of state and director of the Central Intelligence Agency will be confirmed, Enten said. Secretary of State nominee Marco Rubio has a 99% chance of approval, while CIA director nominee John Ratcliffe and attorney general nominee Pam Bondi have a 96% and 98% probability of approval. “Mamma Mia, look how high this is! Pam Bondi, 98%, John Ratcliffe, 96%, Marco Rubio, 99%,” Enten continued. “Look, here’s the bottom line: Yes, there are a few percentage points left on the board, we don’t know what’s going to happen, but all three of these could be confirmed. [is] High, high, sky high. ”

It is currently unclear whether Tulsi Gabbard, nominee for Director of National Intelligence, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., nominee for Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), and Pete Hegseth, nominee for Secretary of Defense, will be confirmed. Enten added. Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, initially expressed skepticism about Hegseth’s confirmation, but endorsed him after Tuesday’s confirmation hearing.
