‘F*ck You’: Megyn Kelly Rips ‘Disgusting’ CNN Pundit Dismissing Hegseth Qualifications

SiriusXM’s Megyn Kelly harshly criticized CNN’s “nasty” commentator Katherine Rampel on her show Wednesday and criticized defense secretary candidate Pete Hegseth’s discharge from military service.

Hegseth was questioned by senators on Tuesday, and some Democrats, including Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine, grilled him about his personal past, which included extramarital affairs, alcoholism and abuse. On “The Megyn Kelly Show,” the SiriusXM host criticized Lampel’s lack of military experience.

“In any case, CNN thought she would be a suitable commentator. Why? Is it because of her long military history? No, she has no ties to the military or the Department of Defense or anything like that,” Kelly said. said. “In fact, she worked as a theater critic for the New York Times before joining the Washington Post. But here she tells us why Pete was chosen for the job.”

Kelly went on to say that CNN’s Scott Jennings said that Lampel labeled Hegseth as just a “TV host,” even though Hegseth worked there for many years before joining Fox News. He released a video criticizing the incident. (Related: CNN’s Harry Enten has good news for those hoping all of President Trump’s nominees will be confirmed)

Kelly asked, “Why not disparage his tours in Iraq, Afghanistan and Gitmo?”

“I would say that most of his adult life was his primary qualification for this job. It was his job on ‘Fox and Friends.’ Fuck you, Katherine Rumpel, that’s him.” Because it denigrates his service. His service is why he got this job,” Kelly said.

“Pete’s lifetime of service during his time in the military and his subsequent work with veterans earned him this job. Trump probably wouldn’t have known about him if he hadn’t gotten the job at FOX.” But it didn’t give him the job, it opened the door,” Kelly added. “You’re a very rude and disgusting person. But that’s what the elites think about our military, and certainly about Trump supporters.”

President-elect Donald Trump announcement Hegseth’s nomination in November highlights how he served in the Minnesota National Guard, where he deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Iraq and Afghanistan, and was twice awarded the Bronze Star Award. Hegseth also led two veterans organizations: Vets for Freedom and Concerned Veterans for America.

After Hegseth’s hearing, Iowa Republican Sen. Joni Ernst expressed support for Hegseth in a local radio interview, despite her previous skepticism about him.
