DAVID BOSSIE: Five Takeaways From This Week’s Confirmation Hearings

As the confirmation process for President-elect Donald Trump’s talented group of Cabinet nominees continues to move forward, there’s one thing that’s clearly lacking among Senate Democrats: credibility. Throughout President Trump’s first term, and even during President Joe Biden’s failed administration, Democratic politicians engaged in a healthy mix of Trump Derangement Syndrome, stunning arrogance, and breathtaking hypocrisy. This has caused long-term reputational damage.

That reality is now on display in every Senate committee hearing room.

Liberal senators are slowly coming to grips with the fact that they have no legs left, as they search for smart political angles to their line of questioning. Mr. Trump’s spectacular victory in the face of unprecedented adversity represents a complete rejection of the radical left’s policies and strategies that have been forced upon the American people over the past eight years. So we’re back to square one, and no one on the left has a clue where to start.

The Democratic Party is a party lost at sea without a captain. Career left-wing politicians and newcomers alike have nothing to offer to solve the inflation crisis. They don’t seem worried about the border catastrophe. They have no regrets about their fraudulent behavior inflation control law;and they are at a loss as to what to do about China, Iran, Russia, and ISIS. Democrats on Capitol Hill are having a hard time sounding relevant because the American people know who is responsible for promoting Biden’s policy failures. Here are the five most ridiculous moments from this week’s confirmation hearings.

1. Observe creepy Democratic Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine question Secretary of Defense candidate Pete Hegseth’s description of his personal life and family was a pathetic display by a hypocritical Washington, D.C., politician. Until recently, Kaine was happy to turn a blind eye to former President Bill Clinton’s nonsense when he accepted Hillary Clinton’s offer to be his running mate. The sight of Kaine attacking Hegseth, a two-time Bronze Star Award winner, simply because he is not part of the Washington establishment is eloquent. (Related: David Bossie: The Senate should confirm Pete Hegseth without delay)

2. It’s equally sickening to watch Democratic California Sen. Adam Schiff question attorney general candidate and former Florida attorney general Pam Bondi about the dangers of a politicized judicial system. It was. Mr. Schiff, who has long been condemned by the House of Representatives for leading an overtly politicized investigation into President Trump, is the undisputed epitome of Trump Derangement Syndrome and a national embarrassment. Having remained silent in the face of what the Biden Justice Department has done to Trump over the past four years, Democrats who claim Trump intends to weaponize the department against his political opponents are ashamed. He should resign.

3. Democratic Virginia Sen. Mark Warner give a lecture CIA nominee John Ratcliffe’s comment about “making sure the analysis is objective…making sure it’s not influenced by politics” was another laugh-out-loud moment during his confirmation hearing. The senior senator from Virginia looked as if he had fallen asleep on the job. On the eve of the 2020 presidential election, Americans gathered signatures from 51 former intelligence officials on a letter falsely claiming Hunter Biden’s laptop was Russian disinformation, and Biden politicized the intelligence community. I have known the camp and the Democratic Party for many years. .

4. The breathtaking tone-deafness of Connecticut Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy quizzed Republican Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, a candidate for secretary of state, spoke out about Mr. Trump’s private business dealings after years of Democrats ignoring allegations of efforts to expand Mr. Biden’s international influence. House investigators diligently “traced the funds” and uncovered millions of dollars flowing into the Biden family’s bank accounts from foreign sources. Democratic politicians never turned a blind eye. The American people are tired of gross double standards. If the Democratic Party is interested in repairing its tarnished image, it should focus on finding solutions to the problems it has caused, rather than playing the same old political games. (Related: David Bossie: The case for Rubio)

5. And Democratic New Jersey Sen. Andy Kim’s questions about Trump’s next border czar and former acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) director Tom to Homeland Security nominee and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, a Republican. is difficult to take seriously. Homan and the role he will play in the new administration’s border security efforts. Joe Biden’s border czar, Vice President Kamala Harris, and his impeachment Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas presided over the border incursion for the better part of four years, but Congressional Democrats still refuse to hold anyone accountable for the lawlessness, making Kim’s point hollow.

If Senate Democrats want to change the tone on the dangerous embrace of open borders, they should immediately vote to confirm Kristi Noem, a strong advocate for border security. Mr. Trump was elected overwhelmingly in November 2024 because Americans want a change of direction and a return to a foreign policy of economic prosperity, border security, and strength through peace. Senate Democrats would be wise to support President Trump’s cabinet appointments and work with the Trump administration to save America, rather than continuing to bipartisanly plunge into the abyss.
