Soap opera star Francisco San Martín died by suicide on January 16th at the age of 39.

The actor became best known for his role as Dario Hernandez on Days of Our Lives from 2010 to 2011. Los Angeles County Medical Examiner San Martín admitted to taking his own life at his home. Their report states the cause of death was ruled “hanging by ligature.” Shocked by the tragic news, fans and loved ones took to social media to pay their respects to the talented actor.

San Martín also starred in the long-running soap opera “The Bold and the Beautiful” in 2017, playing property manager Mateo in 16 episodes.

The actor also co-starred with Michael Douglas and Matt Damon in the 2013 film Behind the Candelabra. He is also credited with appearing opposite Gina Rodriguez on the 2017 show Jane the Virgin.

San Martín had a passion for being in the spotlight from a young age. He began by appearing in children’s theater productions in Montana, and worked as a model in his native Spain as a teenager. According to forbes

He branched out into the field of acting by enrolling in acting lessons while he was in Spain and landed acting roles in various television and film productions. Soon after, he landed roles in the United States and continued to enjoy mainstream success as an actor.

“Very, very sad. I’m a bit shocked as I used to see Francisco at the gym almost every day,” journalist and author Michael Fairman wrote in X.

The details of why the actor ended his life have not been made public at this time.
