Republican Florida Sen. Ashley Moody, one of the newest members of the Senate, serves on key committees and is in a key position in advancing President Donald Trump’s nominees through the confirmation process.

Moody, the former Florida attorney general who was selected to fill Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s Senate seat, will become Florida’s most powerful law enforcement official after President Trump’s nominee for FBI director, Kash Patel, clears the confirmation process. Mr. Moody will serve on the Senate Committee on Aging as well as the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee.
Patel is currently scheduled to appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee for a confirmation hearing next Thursday. If confirmed, Mr. Patel pledged to work to root out elements of the FBI that participated in or facilitated the weaponization of the FBI against American citizens and officials.
Before being tapped for Rubio’s post in the Senate, Moody aligned himself with the conservative policy agenda of Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as attorney general and established himself as an ardent defender of Trump.
