Political analyst Mark Halperin argued in a podcast on Tuesday that the high rating of President Donald Trump’s second term approval rate was largely due to the popularity of his agenda.
CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten explained Monday how Trump found him with a prominent net approval rating, which was his first term. Halperin, “Town Hall ReviewMedia say it cannot adequately cover widespread support for Trump’s policies, claiming that his approval rate will rise even further if Americans evaluate the president based solely on his agenda. “This is a high point for Donald Trump in most polls compared to his first semester, but this is a very unusual situation. It’s in a sense the second term, but of course there is. In a sense, it’s the first semester,” Halperin said. “Energy, delegation, the fact that he won the popularity poll this time, not the first time. ”
“Most people who run for president and win are worse for the second time. Trump has gotten better the second time, right?” he continued. “So more power of attorney. I’m off for four years to think about how to do my job. More activities.”
Political analysts pointed out that the first weeks of Trump’s second term are in stark contrast to the first weeks of former presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. He praised Trump’s popularity in part for his high level of activity, reliability and the caution he commands.
“So I’m not surprised that his numbers are where they are,” Halperin said. “But the key to why he’s doing well compared to many second-term presidents is probably 10 years. , I think the press is the most wrong thing about Donald Trump.”
“His agenda is popular. It’s not all, but most of what he did in his first three weeks of pass 70/30,” he continued. “It’s so popular. If people were just going to his policy, his approval rating would be even higher.”
Trump ran shortly after being sworn in, addressing issues ranging from the border crisis to the economy, and signed more than 200 enforcement actions within 12 hours.
When CNN anchor Sarah Sidner asked Enten why Trump numbers improved in the second term, the data reporter attributed the transition to Americans, believing that Trump was fulfilling his promise.
“I think one of the very important things for politicians is that people believe what they are saying and keep their campaign promises. So, what happens to you? I think it gives a pretty good idea of what he’s doing: “Trump is doing what he promised to do,” Enten said. “You’re back in April 2017. It was only 46% of all Americans who said Trump was doing what he promised to do. Now it’s 2025 February. Compare it to the moon.”
“We live in another world. 70% of Americans say Trump is doing what he promised… Americans are doing what you promised. It’s no wonder your net is doing your net when you’re likely to say it, acknowledgement rating is much more likely to be on the positive side of the ledger than on the negative side.” added.
