An Eastern Cape man in possession of a police uniform is scheduled to appear in court Monday for the murder of a young woman among other charges.
The woman was murdered on Friday.
Captain Welding Mattiolo, a police spokesman, said the suspect was arrested on Saturday.
“On Friday, a tip-off about one of the suspects involved in the murder of a 31-year-old woman in the Malizole area of Hombe administrative district led to the arrest of a village in Ludiwana village. NKOZO management area in Flagstaff.
“Three unauthorized firearms — two revolvers without a serial number and a 9mm pistol with an unharmed serial number — have been retrieved.”
Mattiyoro said a preliminary investigation revealed that a 9mm pistol with an unharmed serial number was stolen at Bishop Lavis, Cape Town.
“The 30-year-old male suspect led police to the Rudiwana area, where police uniforms were found, including field dress pants, a gray shirt, a police belt and a hat. The police investigation was conducted. , ongoing to arrest all those involved in the murder of a 31-year-old woman and establish how they made police uniforms,” he said.
The suspect will appear at Rusikiki Magistrates Court on Monday on charges of murder, illegal possession of firearms, illegal possession of ammunition and illegal possession of suspected stolen property.
Or Tambo District Police Commissioner Norman Modishana praised the police for their unwavering commitment to fighting crime and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
“We will not turn the stones over to the investigation to arrest everyone involved in the brutal murder of the victim to serve justice,” Modishana said.
