Political analyst Mark Halperin said on Friday that the historian who recorded the first month of President Donald Trump’s second term would be baffled by the incompetence of his opponents.
“Wake Up America” Halperin was responding to a clip of “The View” co-host Joy Baer on Thursday, denounced Government Efficiency Office (DOGE) Head Elon Musk for supporting apartheid while living in South Africa as a child. Political analysts said Behar’s comments exemplified Trump’s rivals’ failure to focus on issues that matter to the average American. “When historians wrote about this first month of the Trump administration, I think they’ll be confused by the rank ability that can’t oppose how to speak about what’s going on,” Halperin said. “And you saw there in a keen relief… I’m just making a point about Elon Musk, who has nothing to do with the real life of real people in America. But it’s also hard to know where she’s headed.”
Behar had to return her baseless accusations in the next segment after her accusation. Illinois Democratic Rep. Jonathan Jackson, a Democrat insisted at a protest rally on February 5th that Musk wanted to bring apartheid to the United States.

Since Trump’s November victory, Democrats have been split over how to fight the administration’s agenda. Halperin said on Sunday that Musk had “swelling” on them.
“I’m not a medical professional. I generally urge people not to try and diagnose them through Google, but I don’t think this even requires Google search,” says Halperin. “They are tolerated by Elon Musk because of his power and influence and how fast he moves. And while most clever Democratic strategists say, “Stop attacking guys and focusing on the ideas and influences some of his moves bring,” they don’t seem to resist chasing him personally.”
News Nation host Chris Cuomo also said on February 19 that Democrats were constantly blaming Trump and Musk for constantly blaming him.
“Whatever Trump or Musk does, they have to condemn it, and personally, based on people,” Cuomo said. “Trump is Nazi. Musk has apartheid roots. And for me, it proves that they haven’t learned their lessons yet. They should be in the better idea business.”
