Brit Hume Says Zelenskyy Missed The Mark, Oval Meeting Is Not The Time For Public Confrontation

Veteran political analyst Britt Hume appeared on Fox News on Friday to discuss President Donald Trump and President Voldimill Zelensky’s meeting with Vice President JD Vance in the Oval Office.

Trump suddenly rejected Zelensky from the White House after a fierce debate over our inaction against Vladimir Putin, leading to the cancellation of their press conference. Between exterior In his “special report with Bret Baier,” Hume said the meeting was not a suitable time for public conflict.

“Brett, before I asked him the question that he was coming to start an apology, I thought. He’s not wrong to say you should be open about it, because of the behind closed doors. So in public, the last thing he should do was enter into conflict,” Hume said.

Hume said it is essential for leaders to express their perspective honestly, but the platform Zelensky’s choice of timing and platforms is far from ideal.

“Look, he has a perspective, I understand that. I think a lot of people can do it, but this wasn’t the moment. You gave him every chance bullet. You asked him three times and he never got there,” Hume said.

The incident left “open wounds,” Hume said. This said it could remain a painful point of diplomatic relations unless Zelenskyy takes action and perhaps makes a remedy. (Related: Trump Zelensky Oval Office Meeting gets fired after two sides are revealed in front of the camera)

“This is now an open wound and I think I’m going to do that until I do that unless something happens. I think it needs to be on his side to deal with this,” Hume said.

Zelenskyy retorted that Ukraine is resilient, but despite his criticism, it requires continued support from the US. Trump and Vance advised Zelenskyy to more openly acknowledge US efforts and to deal with diplomatic disagreements more skillfully.

Trump later I said About the true society that Zelenskyy is “not ready for peace.”

“We held a very meaningful meeting at the White House today,” Trump said. “We learned a lot that could never be understood without conversation under such fire and pressure. It is amazing to see it coming through emotion, and President Zelensky decided that if America is involved, he is not ready for peace. I don’t want any advantage, I want peace. He downplayed the United States in his precious oval office. He can come back when he is ready for peace.”
