MSNBC has cancelled “The Reidout.” Host Joy Reid unleashed hateful, often irrational attacks for five years.
MSNBC pulled the plug after President Donald Trump’s reelection and her rating plummeted almost 50%. (Related: Roy Maynard: AP’s discussion of launching from WH events can be laughed considering its history
Here are just a few of her biggest hits:
“The (court) is now piling up to essentially overturn our democracy into a very specific version of right-wing evangelical Christ… that’s no different from Talibanism.”
“The goal of Republicans today is to grab all levels of government control, except for those who are complying with the demand that history and education increase control of white Christians.”
“Fascism is not a game. It’s real. And it’s in America, sometimes dressing up to a cult of strange personalities, or having a Confederate flag…”
“That’s exactly what I hear when I hear that, that’s exactly what (makes America great again) it’s George Wallace. (Trump) is just a Republican George Wallace…”
“Donald Trump has two different visions of black people, and the second, all the other black people he thinks is under him.”
“There is evidence that Donald Trump was painted red in a far-right movement inspired by Africa’s white confiscation.”
“For many conservatives, they believe Day means that black people get jobs, so whenever they see black people at any job, they say, ‘Oh, that person is day rental.’ ”
“After staging the coup, Trump was brought back to President…”
“What Donald Trump is doing… It’s kind of David Koresh, it’s like Jim Jones because these two guys said, ‘You need to come to Jesus.’ They began as Christian evangelists. But in the end, their evangelism said, “No, I can have your wife. …This is (Charles) Manson’s.”
“…(R) blood capacity will one day run deep enough… because blood resistance and NRA tolerance for genocide are bottomless…”
“This is the end of American democracy. This is the beginning of South Africa’s strategy. …Jim Crow America.”
“What’s going on with Republicans who seem to be regaining the lynching vibe?”
“Because they are Jews, there was a time when people had double hashtags around their names, and the right wing would say “get in the oven” whenever you made a benign comment on Twitter. …Elon Musk… misses old South Africa in the 80s. He wants to get it back. ”
“The Republican Party can’t even say that slavery was bad right now. That’s how far it goes.”
The real problem is why MSNBC hired Reid. In the mid-2000s, she had a blog. I wrote it Anti-gay comments. Those comments resurfaced when she took the MSNBC show. These include “most straight people get tired of seeing two men kissing,” and “the nature of political correctness allows gays to say straight sex is rough, while the opposite is patently considered homophobic.”
She called conservative commentator Anne Coulter a “man” and wrote, “I like how intense my drag queens.” She proposed that Sen. Lindsey Graham (Rs.C.) was gay and then-Governor of Florida Charlie Christ. She even speculated that 9/11 was an internal job, not a terrorist attack.
She denied writing these things and claimed she had been hacked. Her network hired cybersecurity experts who found no such evidence. Her response? “This is what I know. I really don’t believe I wrote about those hatreds because they are completely alien to me…”
Apparently, the alien entity entered and temporarily held her heart. That happens.
She weathered the storm and continued her work. She reportedly made $3 million a year until last year’s pay cuts. Who knew that inventing different ways of calling Trump a fascist could be a huge advantage?
