The sheriff’s office said the homeowners immediately sought help. When deputies arrived around 8am on Thursday, they found one of the homeowners “facing” the suspect in the backyard of the house.

After the coolerhead won, deputies learn that the suspect entered the house through the unlocked back door and decide that the house appears to be a good place to sleep.

The homeowner said his security system began to depart around 4am. That’s when the man who owns the house begins to check the property and discovers that the suspect is sleeping in his bed.

Deputies later found a backpack of knife, ammunition and electronic equipment lying near the bed where the suspect had fallen asleep.

The unidentified suspect was arrested and charged with entering the home while receiving deadly weapons and other charges.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone living in Highland Pines who noticed suspicious activity near the home, or who has security camera footage related to the case, to call (928) 771-3260.
