Dr. Heather Jarrell, Chief Medical Inspector of New Mexico, said actor Jean Hackman died of natural causes a week after his wife Betsy Arakawa passed away.

According to Jarrell, the legendary actor’s cause of death is listed as hypertensive atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, while Alzheimer’s disease is listed as a contributing factor. Doctors said Arakawa died after suffering from a rare but serious respiratory disease caused by exposure to infected rodents called Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS). Her death was listed as nature.

Local authorities believe Arakawa passed away seven days before Hackman.

Jarrell said Hackman may be “unaware” that his wife had passed away a few days ago due to Alzheimer’s disease. Authorities reported that the deceased dog, located at his home, was found in a wooden frame and may have died of starvation.

The 95-year-old Oscar-winning actor and his 65-year-old wife were found to have passed away on February 26th.

Santa Fe detectives previously stated in affidavits that Hackman and his wife were found in various areas of their home, According to TMZ.

Arakawa’s body was found in the bathroom, the aide said. The affidavit noted that an open orange prescription and pills were found at the bathroom counter.

According to the affidavit, police found Hackman in another room near the kitchen. According to TMZ, he was still dressed and suspected that his sunglasses suddenly fell as he was by his body.
