NBC 11 Sports: Lady Tigers down rival Holtville again, Lady Hawks soccer wraps up Region title & Yuma Catholic hoops stays unbeaten at home

YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – As the season draws to a close, several hometown teams are winning titles left and right before postseason play hits.

In the Girls’ Hoop, the Imperial Tigers won their 20th game of the year for the ninth straight season with a victory over Holtville. The Lady Vikings jumped out to a 1st quarter lead, but the Tigers used an 11-0 run in the first half to give him a 41-20 victory.

In the men’s hoop, the men of the Yuma Catholic Shamrock continued their hot streak of 10 straight wins and overwhelmed the central Spartans from El Centro. Braden Moore scored his 20 points again to clinch the win 80-52. Rocks is still ranked fifth in 3A men’s basketball this year (20 wins and 2 losses).

On the football pitch, the Gila Ridge Lady Hawks defeated Cibola 4-2 to clinch the 6A Desert Southwest title. His two goals from Addison Duke and one each from Millie Vega and Olivia Waterhouse gave the Hawks their 12th win of the year and his 14th place in 6A.

In the men’s match-up at Gilaridge, a late handball resulted in the equalizer’s Jose Guzman penalty kick for Gilaridge, leading to extra time.

However, Cibola survived with two goals in extra time to hold on to a 3-2 win, his eighth win of the season.
