Chip Roy Vows To Force GOP Vote On Repealing ‘Hyper-Politicized’ FACE Act

Texas Republican Rep. Chip Roy intends to force his GOP colleagues to vote for a law repealing the Freedom of Access to Clinics (Facial) Act, he told daily callers in a March 4 interview.

Roy Reintroduced the abolition of Face act In January, the Biden administration repeatedly weaponized the law against pro-life protesters.

“Well, first of all, I’ve reintroduced the Face Act law in this Congress, and we hope we’ll vote on it,” Roy said. “So this is a simple matter, and this is a law that prosecuted Americans simply to exercise their right to free speech by weaponizing the Department of Justice. That’s not acceptable.”

He told speakers he expects some Republicans to not support the bill, saying he “We must start to consider ways to move the bill independently to the floor. ”

“I don’t just sit and suffer, I need to unite that bill and move on. That’s “common sense,” he said.

In a speech to the Heritage Foundation on March 6, Roy said he would file a discharge petition, a congressional procedure that would allow most of the House to move the bill to the floor without reporting from the committee he was assigned to.

The Face Act, which President Bill Clinton signed into law in 1994, prohibits the use or threat of physical force or threats, preventing someone from trying to get an abortion or exercising their right to religious freedom at a place of worship. This law is used for prosecution Pro-life activist Who will protest? Outside of an abortion facility. Roy mentioned the forgiveness of President Trump, a 23 pro-life activists who were indicted by the Biden administration’s Justice Department. Some were given a multi-year prison sentence for allegedly protesting peacefully outside the abortion clinic and violating faces, including an elderly survivor of a Communist prison camp.

Department of Justice data shows that 97% of all facial prosecutions were filed against life support protesters, despite the fact that they also apply to life support pregnancy centers and places of religious worship, reported exclusively by daily callers in July 2024. Roy told callers that prolife protesters should ensure protection of free speech, except for local laws that prohibit certain types of protests.

“There are things I can’t do, [protestors] If they know what they are and cross those lines, they will have to deal with local laws. But again, judgement is important and facial actions should not be applied to them,” Roy said.
