Police say the trucking company’s CEO was found killed Wednesday in a burning building in Crestwood, Illinois.
The bodies were found after police and firefighters responded to reports of heavy smoke emanating from the ATG truck office. According to Crestwood Police Station (CPD) press release. Authorities discovered the body of ATG truck CEO Dane Koteski on the second floor of the building after firefighters fired the flames. Koteski’s neck was novel with pointy or sharp objects, according to the Cook County Medical Inspector’s office.
“The fire was quickly put out. There was a lot of smoke. We cleaned up the smoke and the focus became a body investigation,” CPD chief Kevin Sisk I said ABC7. “Investigators determined that the victim was the owner of the company: Dane Koteski, 46. Later, an autopsy determined that Koteski’s neck had been severed with a knife.”
According to the CPD, the CPD has begun an investigation into the death and fire. The major crime task force in the south suburbs is helping to investigate Koteski’s death, but the state firefighters will help consider the alleged arson.
“They developed the suspects pretty quickly,” Sisk said.

According to the CPD, the suspect was one of Koteski’s employees. Authorities found the suspect at a truck stop, and the Dutch police department in Michigan arrested individuals Thursday morning. Police did not name the suspect. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office in Michigan holds a suspect awaiting extradition to Illinois. The suspect’s potential motives remain unknown.
