The US military launched a massive operation on Saturday against Iran-backed Hooty terrorists in Yemen to protect American interests and global maritime trade, President Donald Trump announced.
US Central Command (Centcom) I said “We have launched a precision strike against Iran-supported Hooti targets across Yemen to defend American interests, block the enemy and restore freedom of navigation.”

Houthis has “has been ruthlessly campaigning of copyright infringement, violence and terrorism against America and other vessels, aircraft and drones,” declared Trump, and the US and the global economy “will endanger billions of dollars, billions of dollars, and innocent lives.”

The ship sailing under the American flag “sailed safely over the Suez Canal, the Red Sea or the Gulf of Aden” over the past year, Trump added. The American warship last sailed through the Red Sea four months ago, but was not attacked more than 12 times by the Houchis, he added.
“Houthis suffocated transportation in one of the world’s most important waterways, halted the vast strip of global commerce and attacked the core principles of voyage freedom on which international trade and commerce relies,” Trump said.
He vowed to use “overwhelming deadly force” against the Hoosis. He also warned Iran to stop supporting the Houtis. Otherwise, “America will hold you totally accountable.

Houthis crippled commercial voyages in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden when it struck a variety of commercial vessels, including US freighters, in January 2024 as an expression of Hamas’ support in Gaza as an Israeli iron operational sword against Palestinian terrorist organizations.
Their attacks have raised the shipping costs and consumer prices for certain products. It also caused some livestock deaths indirectly as the ships that transported them had to consider turning back or navigating longer routes.
