Conservative Waukesha County Judge Brad Simel is within the “notable distance” of his liberal opponent, Dane County Judge Susan Crawford, in the Wisconsin Supreme Court election scheduled for April 1.
Simel, the Republican Wisconsin Attorney General from 2015 to 2019, followed Crawford by 48% to 43%. According to A survey of political nonprofit groups conducted between March 17th and 18th. Crawford is leading conservative opponents outside the margin of the poll’s four-point error, but Musk’s political group claims Schimel has momentum in the race as negative ads from the conservative group highlight Crawford’s soft-on-cram record. Simel was 13 points behind Crawford just two weeks ago, a vote conducted by the Tyson Group has been found. According to Musk’s group, Crawford has also experienced “dramatic erosion in her support” (a favorable decline of 12%) as voters learn more about the leftist judge’s views.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court Contest is one of the most consequential elections of 2025. The race is projected to be the most expensive judicial contest ever, with spending expected to beat $100 million.

While the state’s Supreme Court contests are officially nonpartisan, leftist justice is considered to control the majority in the Wisconsin Supreme Court until 2028 if Simel loses.

Schimel supporters have raised warnings that Crawford’s victory could have a negative impact on the future composition of Congress. The court is I declined To hear the Congressional District lawsuit filed by Democrats in March, Crawford appears to support an hearing review lawsuit that would benefit Democrats if she was elected to the bench.
Crawford took part in a staff-sponsored fundraising event on January 13th, and joined Democrat Mega Donner Reed Hoffman, which was sold as “an opportunity to play two more house seats in 2026.” According to An email invitation for the event first reported by the New York Times.
“Crawford revealed that if elected, she will rubber stamp the radical Democratic agenda Jerry Mander “The US Congressional District of Wisconsin, Megan Novak, director of American Wisconsin for America’s Prosperity, wrote on March 11 in the Daily Carener News Foundation’s OP-ED: “The outcome of this race is no longer realistic.”
According to a group of Musks who claim negative TV spurts, the group’s backing simmel should continue to slap Crawford’s campaign, attacking the judge’s record that softened up on issues of law and orders, to weaken support in Wisconsinite in the left center advertisement I’m working.
Schimel supporters have it Highlighted The fact that Crawford, as a Dane County judge, gave him just four years in prison for repeated child molestation who sexually assaulted a girl in a swimming pool in 2019. I asked Crawford sentenced a convicted sexual predator to at least 10 years in prison, but the felony charges pose a maximum penalty of up to 60 years.
“As always I have, in that case, I followed the law in that case, so I have no regrets about that sentence,” Crawford said. I said During a discussion with Shimel on March 12th.

“Susan Crawford revealed last week that she is simply a liberal in crime, with little concern for our most vulnerable communities, including our children,” Republican state leadership committee Mason Di Palma told DCNF in a statement. “It’s important for Wisconsinites to hear their voices as early voting is already underway and there are only two weeks left. The choice is clear. Voters can choose Susan Crawford, who prioritizes the interests of criminals, or conservative bloodscimmer, who supports the rule of law and is dedicated to serving communities without political byas.”
Analysis shows that to defeat Crawford, Shimmel’s campaign will have to work to kick out Trump voters who are less likely to become full force in off-year elections. Musk’s group is concerned that GOP voters could vote at a lower rate than in November 2024, potentially benefiting Crawford.
“[T]If Schimel can take off what’s historically upset, we’ll have to do more work, but we believe we’ll be within the margin of error,” wrote the group’s senior advisor. It is our hope that they will actively do so on the rest of the day. ”
The Tyson Group vote has a phone survey of 600 likely Wisconsin voters and has a 4-point margin of error.
The Schimel and Crawford campaign did not immediately respond to DCNF’s request for comment.
