The House Task Force on Federal Secret Secret Secrets will hold its first hearing on the newly released John F. Kennedy file on April 1, and will investigate whether the Central Intelligence Agency misunderstood Congress about the assassination, Florida Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna announced Thursday.
During a Zoom meeting with Vice President Jefferson Morley of the Mary Ferrell Foundation, Luna shared early details about the failure of the national intelligence agency, primarily the central intelligence agency, to prevent Kennedy’s assassination. “The task force and the transparency it offers have been behind for a long time,” Luna said. “The reason you have that set of theories is because the government wasn’t transparent.”
A longtime independent investigator of JFK cases and declassification advocates, Morley will serve as an expert witness.
The commission’s early prioritization is to ensure all records subject to declassification under President Donald Trump’s January 23rd. Presidential Order It will be released. The executive order required that the Director of National Intelligence be presented with a plan for the release of John F. Kennedy Records within 15 days.
Longtime JFK assassination researchers, including Morey, have given the Trump administration a bad mark for delays in the release of the full set of documents beyond its timeline.
While answering questions from reporters in the Oval Office on Friday, Trump said he had directed the National Archives and the Records Bureau to release the documents so that the unstripped Social Security numbers for those who have probably died have passed away and facilitated the process.
“A lot of the presidents have gone through it and they haven’t released it, so I was given the task of releasing it. I said ‘releasing’,” Trump said. “We even released our Social Security number. We didn’t want to remove it.”

Luna said that even before Trump’s executive order, several documents allowed release under the Biden administration were supported by the National Archives.
“In Washington, it happens frequently and often, especially when intelligence agencies are involved. “So if you do, you need a pit bull, or multiple pit bulls that can actually chase after an individual or agent to ensure that these documents are released.”
The National Archives told Luna that all 80,000 expected documents will be scanned and available by the weekend, she said. Physical copies can be reviewed directly at the National Archives 2nd Headquarters (“Archive II”) in College Park, Maryland. This week, National Archives released the document in three separate tranches. The latest tranche was released Thursday night at 9:30pm. In total, 2,343 separate files have been released starting Tuesday, including 77,100 pages.
Luna has expressed optimism that all records will be released thanks to “major changes” from the National Archives, the CIA and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. She said CIA director John Ratcliffe supports the release of the document.
Congressional investigators are currently in a frenzy of search for the general report of CIA inspectors, flagged by whistleblowers approaching the committee. If verified, according to Report by Morley, The report shows that the CIA misinterpreted the House Selection Committee on Assassinations, a three-year investigation into assassinations between 1977 and 1979, fearing that it would put the CIA operation at risk.
“We know you’re looking for it. Our team is looking for it. We’re looking for it, and we’re looking for the archives,” Luna said. “We work day and night to find this document.”
