George Foreman Dead At 76

George Foreman, a two-time heavyweight boxing champion and Olympic gold medalist, passed away on March 21st at the age of 76.

Foreman’s family issued a heartfelt statement on Instagram on the day he passed away. “Our hearts are broken. With deep sadness, we announce the death of our beloved George Edward Foreman Sr., on March 21, 2025, surrounded by our loved ones,” they said. The cause of his death has not been revealed.

“A venerable preacher, devoted husband, loving father and proud grandfather, he lived a life characterized by unwavering faith, humility and purpose.”

The family continued to pay tribute to Foreman by celebrating his most memorable qualities.

“A humanitarian, Olympian and two-time heavyweight champion of the world, he was deeply respected. He fights tirelessly for his family, the power, discipline, belief, protector of his legacy, his good name.”

Foreman came from a humble beginning and pursued boxing in his youth. He won the gold medal at the Mexico City Olympics in 1968 at the age of 19. The following year he went professionally. His skills could not be denied. Foreman won all 13 battles that year and all 12 battles in 1970. He had 32 wins by the end of 1971 and had no losses.

Foreman fought against Joe Fraser and won the World Heavyweight Championship title in 1973 with a total knockout. He was one of the most notable competitors in the sport. Foreman lost his first title to Muhammad Ali in the historic rumble at the 1974 Jungle Fight. Overall, he boasted an impressive total of 76 wins, including 68 knockouts.

Foreman received title shots against Evander Hollyfield in 1991 and Tommy Morrison in 1993, losing both. He defeated Michael Mooler in 1994 to regain the championship. His admiration was immeasurable and his success in the ring over the course of his career could not be denied. He retired from boxing in 1977 and became a reborn Christian, dedicating his life to his faith. He temporarily resumed his career in 1999 before retiring forever. His career ended with an astonishing 76 wins and five losses.

Foreman then became a spokesman for the George Foreman Grill, selling millions of units. He appeared in “The Masked Singer” in 2022 and was the executive producer of the 2023 biopic, Big George Foreman: The Miraculational Story of the Miraculation of the World.

Foreman has been married five times. Foreman had 12 children, five of whom were sons named George Edward Foreman. He is survived by his wife and 11 children. (Related: Dolly Parton shares devastating news about her husband’s death)

“We are grateful for the pouring of love and prayer, and ask for your kindness for privacy as we respect the extraordinary lives of those who are blessed to call ourselves,” his family wrote in a statement.

Fans around the world paid tribute to social media, lamenting the loss of true legends and celebrating the incredible legacy he left behind.
