Suspect arrested after breaking into home near Prescott and sleeping in bed

Prescott, Arizona (Az Family) – A homeowner in northern Arizona was shocked to find a stranger sleeping in a bed inside his home.

The discovery occurred Thursday morning. Deputies for the Yavapay County Sheriff’s Office were called by an intruder at their home around Highland Pines, just outside Prescott.

Authorities say the homeowner called 911 after finding a stranger inside the house. Deputies arrive at the homeowner who is facing the suspect in his backyard. It was soon discovered that the suspect had entered through an unlocked back door, and decided that it would be a good place for him to sleep.

The homeowner told deputies he received a warning from the security system around 4am and that one of the homeowners checked the property and immediately discovered the suspect was sleeping in his bed. Deputies also found knife, ammunition and electronic backpacks where the suspect was sleeping.

The intruder was arrested and charged with staying in a residential structure while possessing a deadly weapon. He is also facing other charges.

Deputies are encouraging Highland Pines residents who have noticed suspicious activity near their homes or have security camera footage to contact the Yabapai County Sheriff’s Office at 928-771-3260.
