The Prescott Badgers won their fifth straight set and remained above the Grand Canyon area with a 11-1, five innings victory over the Coconino Panthers.

Adrian Sanderford pitched the gem, allowing only one run, scattering four hits. The senior harler was impressive in his control.

“I felt good today. I knew I had to go out and do what I could. I’m confident in myself and the people behind me.” Sanderford said of raising an eight after one inning, “It was really good. It puts them to sleep a little and makes them feel hopeless.”

Aston Whitwell hit the pitch and loaded the bass for the third time. The Colton champion appeared and tore a ball that bouncing off the center field fence on the left, doubled the ground and scored two more points. 6-0, the Badgers added two more to close the ball passed and the Panthers wild pitch innings.

Coconino’s lonely run came in four innings when Fitz Guinan chose a single at Junior Stone to score 8-1.

Badger manager Jason Hutchens said, “The boys are in good headspace right now. They play with confidence, but they’re not overly confident. They’re not cocky. They need to bring the same energy they do today.”

The Badgers scored 61 runs during their current five-game winning streak, but the pitchers also shined, allowing seven runs in the same game with three shutouts.

Prescott makes a trip to Flagstaff and faces the Panthers today for a second meeting between the two teams. The first pitch is 4pm.
