The White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) announced on Saturday it would rule out comedian Amber Ruffin playing its annual dinner on April 26th to avoid focusing on “the politics of division.”

“In this consequential moment of journalism, I would like to focus entirely on awarding outstanding work to colleagues and providing scholarships and guidance to the next generation of journalists,” Daniels wrote.
While the White House Correspondents Association’s dinners call themselves nonpartisan, Ruffin has a history of being an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump. The event itself aims to raise funds for the association’s work, journalism scholarships, and educate the public about the first amendment and the free press.

Also criticism was placed on Biden and other dinner attendees during the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, while President Biden called “Genocide Joe” “Genocide Joe” as “Genocide Joe.”
