Scott Jennings Says GOP Must ‘Come To Grips’ With ‘New’ Electoral ‘Reality’

CNN’s Scott Jennings detailed Sunday why Republicans need to “know” the “new reality” of voters with a lower trend, ahead of major elections in Florida and Wisconsin.

The major special elections for two Florida House seats and the Wisconsin Supreme Court seats are focusing on the opportunity for Republicans to win more positions ahead of the midterm elections. Jennings emphasized to the panel that “coalition state” allowed Republicans to gain new traction among voters with a lower tendency, but that despite past records, they must motivate them to go out and vote. “These are my thoughts about these elections: Republicans have to come to grasp the new reality. So we’ve traded a lot of top-trend voters for Democrats, but a lot of new low-trend voters have come to Republicans,” Jennings said.

“What is the real-world effect of this? Number one, great for presidential elections. Ask Donald Trump. “But voters who are not happening under the presidential election, off-sea, off-cycle, special, mid-sized, low-trend, this kind of low-trend voters simply don’t have that much history.”

Reports show that Republicans are concerned about securing Florida’s 6th Congressional District, but Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis and Florida-based GOP strategist Ford O’Connell have expressed confidence that Republican Florida Sen. Randy Fein will secure a seat.

“So it’s one of the things Republicans have to do and I think they’ll win in Florida, but one of the things we have to do is condition these new people in the Republican Party.

“That’s something I know that the top party strategists are highlighting, but it may take some time to adjust these new people to become regular voters,” Jennings concluded.
