Badgers Complete Season Sweep of Coconino

Photo: Adrian Sanderford hit a home run and had six RBIs in a victory at Coconino

For the second time in three days, Prescott Badger took over the Coconino Panthers with a 15-3 victory at Flagstaff. The victory keeps the badger above the Grand Canyon area.

On the plate, five badgers had multiple hit games, and Adrian Sanderford provided an exclamation point on his 15-run offensive performance, including three runblasts, part of the six RBI. Nick Martin scattered three singles and scored three times. Cooper Magnet, Colton Champion and Gates each had two hits. One of the champion’s hits was triple as the seniors took up two RBIs.

The three badger juniors provided the necessary arms up the hill. Travis Gates won in 3.1 innings and allowed a run they scored with two hits on three strikeouts. William Horn took care of the middle innings by locking Matt Hepperl, who closed the door to the seventh bottom in one strikeout.

Prescott will take a short trip to face the Bradshaw Mountain Bears at the dark 7pm start time. Both teams have not lost to regional games yet.

The six straight winner, the badger continues to tear the cover off the ball and runs on average over 12 games. The Bears scored three straights and gave up three runs each in the last two games.
