Yavapai Softball Splits Weekend Series Against Arizona Western | Prescott Valley Times local news







Over the weekend, the Yabapai softball team continued to play meetings from home when they faced Matador in Western Arizona. Of all four games, Yabapay won the first two, while Matador won the last two.

Game 1

The first game of the series began on Friday, March 28th around 1pm, with Yabapai winning 8-4!

Gracie Firth hit a home run in this game! Other runs in the game come from Tamlin Tucker (2), Brianna Baka, Olivia Boswell, Hayden McGuire, Ivanny Perez and Emmersan Villa. The run is hit by Firth (3), Kylie Sam (2), Boswell and Villa.

Sam and Boswell each stole the bases of the game.

First bass man McGuire had nine put outs, while Boswell had five put outs. Kylie Sam has seven fielding assists, and double plays come from Sam, Stupid and McGuire.

Game 2

Roughrider won this game 11-3 in five innings, so the second game wasn’t about competition!

Although there were no home runs from the home team, the 11 runs scored come from Briana Baca (2), Olivia Boswell (2), Hayden McGuire (2), Ivanna Pelez (2), Angelica Carillo, Gracie Firth and Emmer Sinvilla. Villa and Natalie Ojeda both batted on two runs, with the rest of the runs being hit by Firth, Baca, Boswell, McGuire and Tamryn Tucker.

Olivia Boswell stole the bass in this game.

Winning pitcher Mackenzie Duhl pitched five innings and got one strikeout, but only allowed four hits.

McGuire had eight put outs and Durr had three assists.

Game 3

The first game of Saturday’s doubleheader began at 11am and ended with a Matador victory, winning 9-2.

The two runs came from Tamlin Tucker and Hayden McGuire, and the run was hit by Natalie Ojeda and Emmersan Villa.

Starting pitcher Mackenzie Duhl recorded five strikeouts in five innings.

Ojeda ended up having six put outs, McGuire and Kylie Sam each had three assists, and the double play came from Baka and Ojeda.

Game 4

In the final game of the series, Yabapai fell 10-2.

Just like in Game 3, the two runs come from Hayden McGuire and Tamlin Tucker. Tucker’s run was hit by Brianna Baka. McGuire’s hit was a double.

McGuire had a team high nine put out, Kylie Sam had four assists, and pitcher Breanne Petty had three plays from McGuire, Tucker and Gracie Firth.

Conference play continues at home next week as Riders face Central Arizona’s Vakela in the 4-Game Series! The game will be held from noon and 2pm on Friday, April 4th, and at 11am and 1pm on Saturday, April 5th.
