Naval Academy Removes Hundreds Of Books That Push DEI

The U.S. Naval Academy began deleting nearly 400 books on Monday that are said to promote diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).

The action came after an order from the office of Defense Secretary Pete Hegses, following President Donald Trump’s order to remove DEI content from all federal agencies and federal contracting companies. Associated Press. The list of deleted books has not yet been released.

According to the Associated Press, authorities initially flagged 900 titles for reviews, but eventually deleted around 400 titles.

The Department of Defense introduced a request for comment to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s Naval Academy. The Naval Academy did not respond immediately.

The Trump administration has wiped out Day’s practices, Day-One Exect Order “End the radical and wasteful government DEI program and hope for preference,” Trump also published. Executive Order banning all DEI initiatives in the military on January 27th.

Once Trump took office for a second term, the Pentagon quickly began to overturn the Biden-era agenda, ending federally-subsidized sex-change surgeries, and reversed military discharges of service members who opposed the COVID-19 vaccine. The Naval Academy recently announced that it would end racial preferences for admission in response to federal directives and warn colleges and universities to remove similar policies.

The practice of removing books for inappropriate content is highly controversial, with several cases being brought to court. Most recently, Iowa district courts have stopped the state from removing books from school libraries, and the definition of “indecent” content in the law has been too broad to say that[t]His consequence is that he forced a book from a school library that was not pornographic or lewd. ”
