Local Dem Politician Who Climbed Political Ladder Charged With Raping Child Under 14

A Massachusetts lawyer with a decades-long political career has resigned from his state’s Democratic governing body after being accused of sexually assaulting a minor.

The Massachusetts Democratic State Commission confirmed Friday that 80-year-old Meschuen Robert LeBlanc resigned at the request of a party chair. Boston Globe reported. LeBlanc, who held multiple city government positions, pleaded not guilty to state-level sex crimes charges on Wednesday after years of allegations of inappropriate behavior against high school students and others.

A judge on Wednesday granted LeBlanc bail on the condition that he filed for a police appointment, avoid contact with victims and witnesses, and not have unsupervised contact with minors.
