‘Not Gonna Happen’: El Salvadoran President Says He Is Not Shipping Alleged MS-13 Gang Member Back To US

El Salvador President Naive Buquere said in a meeting with President Donald Trump on Monday that he would not return Kilmer Armando Abrego Garcia, an illegal immigrant with ties to the United States after his deportation.

The Trump administration has argued that Garcia, an El Salvadoranian citizen, should be detained in El Salvador due to alleged connections with MS-13 from 2019 and past deportation orders. Bukele confirmed to CNN’s Catelan Collins at Obal’s office that does not enter our foreigner’s office.

“I think I’m proposing to smuggle terrorists into the US,” Bukere said. “How can I smuggle? How can I get him back to America? I’m like I’m smuggling him into the United States, of course, I’m not going to do that. So the question is ridiculous. How can I smuggle him into the United States? I don’t have the power to return him to the United States. I can go back to releasing criminals so we can become the murderous capital of the world.” (Related: Trump admins claim that there is no need to bring the suspicious MS-13 Gangbanger back to us.)

According to court documents, an agent for Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested Garcia, who illegally entered the United States in 2011 and deported him to his home country. The Trump administration admitted that Garcia’s deportation was a administrative error, but they pointed to documents provided by Prince George’s county police station, detailing the names and ranks of Garcia’s gang, and insisted he should remain in El Salvador.

According to court documents, the judge granted status in October 2019 known as “withholding of removal,” known as “withholding of removal.” He settled in Maryland, married American citizen Jennifer Vasquez Sula and has one child.

The administration challenged an order directed by US District Judge Paula Sinis, an Obama-appointed judge who determined Garcia’s return to the United States must be effective. Chief Justice John Roberts suspended the judge’s order in a ruling on April 7, saying the United States cannot “force El Salvador to comply with federal judges’ bids.”

The U.S. Supreme Court later ruled on Thursday that the US should “promote” Garcia’s return and directed the lower court to clarify the order.

“The district court should make it clear, taking due consideration of the respect paid to the administrative department in conduct of diplomacy,” the order states. “For some of that, the government needs to be prepared to share what it can do regarding the measures it has taken and the outlook for further measures.”

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller said on Monday in the “American Newsroom” that if El Salvador voluntarily sends Garcia back, he will be returned to ice and deported to another country. He further stated that the immigration judge’s retention order regarding Garcia’s deportation in 2019 was invalid as he is said to be a member of a foreign terrorist organization.
