“Silence in the face of evil is evil in itself. God will not sin on us. To speak is not to speak; to act is not to act.”
– Dietrich Bonhoeffer
For more than a century, the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) has stood as a pillar of moral clarity, leadership and responsibility. It was an organization that trained boys to become males of character. It is a young man who serves his family, church and community with confidence and courage.
That legacy is currently at risk.
Recently, top advisors to Defense Secretary Pete Hegses and other military officials. I was urged Department of Defense to reduce ties Scout Americathe organization says they “wake too much,” and they “lost what they stand.” (Related: Mark Hancock: How America Should Raise Strong Men After Boys Abandoned)
Pete Hegses himself did not write words:
“This is an institution that the left didn’t control. They didn’t want to improve it. They wanted to destroy it or dilute it into something that didn’t do anything. Five years ago, the Boy Scouts put in the girl.
“This is a tragedy,” he added. “Young kids don’t have the opportunity to learn these skills, but more importantly, they did it for themselves.”
Hegus is right – and the pain of his words resonates with the hearts of countless parents, veterans and church leaders who once trusted Scouts to shape his son.
Recent name changes from American Boy Scouts In Scout America It’s not just cosmetics – it’s dark and symbolic. It marks the surrender of an institution that once knew boys and girls were different, and boys need their own tailored space to help them become men. In today’s culture, the idea that boys exist and that they are different from girls is too controversial to affirm.
And it still gets deeper.
American Scouts Society citizenship badge,Currently, the Eagle Scout requirements are an obvious example of this drift. Badges require adults to affirm what the scout believes, rather than encouraging the counselor to guide boys (and girls) towards truth and wisdom. Instead of guiding with wisdom, badges instruct leaders to remain silent on issues such as sexual identity and inclusion. Rather than speaking from a truth standpoint, we will step aside and make the impressive young people “determine their beliefs.”
This badge embodies a new philosophy that redefines the role of mentors, rather than just one requirement among many.
Official Counselor Training material Even warning:
- “Don’t share your experience as a subject expert.”
- “Counselors should consider the experience and journey of scouts, not to interfere with their opinions or beliefs.”
In other words, stay quiet. Stay in your lane. Let them know.
It’s not leadership.
That’s abandonment.
Instead of equipping scouts with timeless truths, they affirm self-determined, undeveloped reality.
I cannot remain silent with conscience while young people are taught that truth is subjective and biology is optional. Still, silence is exactly what every scout leader needs to do to comply with the new badge requirements.
Leadership requires conviction. Coaches don’t just “promote” athletes while they shake up. The mentor is not intended to be silent. He is intended to shape it with knowledge and discipline, as he speaks the truth with love and confidence.
Scout America They no longer train courageous leaders. Train a passive facilitator.
And culture is willing to fill the void, especially if boys don’t receive clear and courageous guidance. The stories they are handed over today negate biological reality, reject biblical masculinity, and redefine morality.
The cost of silence is too high.
Boys need strong men who show up, speak up and stand firm. Men who are not afraid to say what is true even when it is not popular. You are not the man who understands the truth compensate – It’s you receive, Live and hand over.
That’s the reason Trail Life USA It exists.
In Trail Life, we believe:
- I need a boy Mentornot silence.
- I need a boy Adventurenot ideology.
- I need a boy truthnot confusion.
We don’t tell men to sit and be quiet. We call them up and lead with courage, confidence and clarity. With a force of over 1,350 serving 65,000 trailmen in all 50 states, that’s exactly what’s happening. The boy finds a mentor, the father and son connect, the relationship grows, and the legacy is built.
For over a century, Boy Scouts trained leaders. Now, tragically, they are training followers.
Parents, pastors, leaders – the time of silence is over. Our sons are led into confusion when they should be led to truth. if Scout America I will not train boys to be respectful men We must do.
Let’s nurture a generation who knows who they are, as they have been taught by men who live with the truth.
