Sedona Heritage Museum Celebrates 25 Years

On October 18, 1998, Sedona was blessed with fine weather. Perfect weather for the grand opening of the Sedona Heritage Museum in Jordan Historical Park that day, and now, 25 years later, the museum is preparing his one-year celebration to mark this milestone.

Celebrations include 25th anniversary editions of all of the museum’s popular programs, as well as special events throughout the year. Special events include an evening celebrating the women of Northern Arizona with actress Elizabeth Weah’s performance as famed architect Mary Colter on March 4, and Chuck Wagon Dinner and Western Movie Night in April. , which includes 4 free community days per year. Admission to the museum for Sedona area residents and an apple or peach snack and dessert that pays tribute to the area’s orchard history.

Operated by the Sedona Historical Society, the Sedona Heritage Museum can boast a lot over the past 25 years. It has grown from an all-volunteer operation to one that recently hired its first professional executive director. It now includes four sites in the Schuurman Homestead associated with the first vineyards in the area. And a winery over 100 years old.

Each year, the museum offers both local residents and visitors a busy schedule of dozens of programs and exhibits that explore different aspects of Sedona’s unique and rich history.
