SEDONA, Arizona – The woman was rescued after being reported missing for several days while hiking near Sedona.
On Friday, June 13th, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office was reported to a missing camper van in the area known as the “Earth of the World.”
Lawmakers believed that 32-year-old Janelle Banda left her campsite and descended to nearby Side Canyon, but never returned.
Search operations have been launched through the weekend with support from multiple agencies, including search and rescue at the Yabapai County Sheriff’s Office, ground searchers, search dogs, air support from Yabapai County Sheriff’s Office helicopters and Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) Air Rescue Helicopters.
On Monday, June 16th, the crew were dehydrated and found Banda suffering from minor injuries.
The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office air unit used a superhuey helicopter to wind the banda out of the mountain and took them to Sedona Airport, where the Sedona Fire Department took them to Verde Valley Medical Center for further treatment.
