Former House Speaker Newt Ginrich warned Fox Business on Tuesday about the potential consequences of a ceasefire with Iran, urging the US to avoid repeating past mistakes.
President Donald Trump announced Monday that Israel and Iran agreed to a “full ceasefire,” but despite the agreement, Iran fired the missile in Israel on Tuesday. When he appeared in “Kudrow,” Ginrich said the next few weeks will be important to set clear boundaries for Iran’s nuclear ambitions and ongoing support for terrorism.
“I think it’s a matter of life and death from an Israeli perspective, and from an American perspective, if you get nuclear weapons and strategic missiles, then it’s a matter of life and death. The next few weeks are important. Ginrich asked host Larry Kudrow.
Ginrich said he was unhappy with his past diplomatic approach. He believes Iran has allowed him to lie to the US and buy time to develop nuclear technology.

“Or are you going to go back to the same stupid game as all the presidents before Trump plays, where we’ll talk to Iranians. [and then] Do they lie to us? After all, we don’t want to break the ceasefire, so we’ll go with the lies,” Ginrich said.
Ginrich said he is opposed to a ceasefire that allows the Iranian regime to continue funding terrorism, chanting anti-Israel and anti-American slogans and secretly pursue nuclear weapons.
“If Iranian dictatorships allow them to continue to raise funds for terrorism and continue to chant deaths to Israel and deaths to America, I am against setting a ceasefire and secretly attempting to rebuild their nuclear capabilities. On Sunday, the US attacked Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan, using large weapon intruders of up to 14 GBU-57s. The operation included seven B-2A spirit bombers that completed a 37-hour mission.
These American strikes followed Israeli military action against Iran’s nuclear infrastructure 10 days ago. In retaliation, Iran launched several missile attacks on Israeli cities, refusing to re-engage consultations on its nuclear ambitions.
