PALSIPPANY, N.J., June 12, 2025 (Glove Newswire) – Acrow, a leading international bridge engineering and supplier, said today that one of the modular steel bridges has been installed to access the Patagonia Mountains mining site in Santa Cruz County, southern Arizona. The bridge is necessary to promote access to the site and also helps to flow smoothly through local traffic.
Located five miles south of the town of Patagonia, the Hermosa project at South32 is being developed for underground mining of manganese and zinc, both of which are important federally designated materials.
The Akrow Bridge will be installed on a low-capacity country road between State Route 82 and Harshaw Road, carrying traffic over Red Rock Canyon Creek. The panel bridge is 140 feet long (42.67 meters) and 30 feet wide (9.15 meters) with a TL-4 guardrail system and a skin epoxy deck coating of the aggregate. It was designed by a CPE consultant to house heavy vehicles for delivery used to build the project. The bridge was constructed and installed by Hunter Contract Co., Ltd. and launched with the support of cranes. The bridge will be opened in limited traffic in March 2025, and is expected to support the project development phase, with the structure being transferred to Santa Cruz County.
Acro has a long track record of meeting the unique infrastructure needs of the mining, energy, oil and gas industries. Built with standardized modular components, Acrow’s Bridges can be designed to accommodate special live loads and vehicle dimensions, challenging climates and remote operational environments. The components are manufactured from high-strength US steel, galvanized to protect against corrosion, and are easily and quickly assembled and installed in minimal equipment, labor and building areas in just a few days. When used in temporary applications, it can be easily disassembled, stored and reassembled for use in a variety of locations.
“We are pleased to be caught up in this important project to develop the national sources of these important minerals,” said Las Parisi, Vice President of North America at Akrow. “Our durable bridging solutions provided a cost-effective and efficient way to meet the site access needs of heavy vehicles for project development.”
“The Akrow Bridge is used by contractors in the extraction industry business around the world,” says Eugene Sovecchi, Akrow’s National Sales and Military Business Development. “Our bridges are designed and designed to handle the most extreme loads with sturdy durability and have a long service life that minimizes maintenance requirements.”
