Tuscaloosa Council Member Launches Campaign for House Seat
Norman Crowe, a member of the Tuscaloosa City Council, has officially declared his candidacy for the open Alabama House of Representatives District 63 seat.
As reported by Tuscaloosa News, Crowe, who currently represents the third district on the city council, announced his bid on Thursday. In his campaign, he emphasized his experience in business, education, and community leadership. Crowe aims to leverage his insights into job creation and financial management, promising accountability and measurable outcomes for the district’s constituents.
A Tuscaloosa native, Crowe kicked off his career in the energy sector, working in roles with Southern Natural Gas, Teneco Energy, Duke Energy, Dependent Energy, and Innovative Energy Services. He also founded and managed DT Freight, a local transportation company, and is now a licensed real estate agent with Hamner Real Estate.
Additionally, he has served on the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education and holds chair positions in several organizations, including the Boys and Girls Club of West Alabama, the United Way of West Alabama, and the West Alabama Chamber of Commerce.
District 63 encompasses much of downtown Tuscaloosa, home to the University of Alabama, and is crucial for representing the city’s interests in Montgomery.
The vacancy was created by State Sen. Cynthia Almond (R-Tuscaloosa), who was appointed by Governor Kay Ivey to lead the Public Service Commission. Almond is expected to officially resign from her legislative seat on June 15th.
The governor will soon announce special election dates to fill the position.
