Ken McFeeters begins his campaign for governor of Alabama in 2026

Ken McFeeter Announces Candidacy for Alabama Governor in 2026

Ken McFeeter, a veteran insurance expert and former Congressional candidate, has officially declared that he will run for Governor of Alabama in the upcoming 2026 election. Emphasizing his status as a political outsider, McFeeter aims to tackle established powers and advocate for the everyday needs of Alabamians.

Having lived in Alabama since 1971, McFeeter co-founded an insurance agency near Birmingham in 1981. With over four decades in the insurance sector, he has been actively engaged in state politics, notably as chairman of the Mid-Alabama Republican Club. In 2024, he ran for Alabama’s 6th Congressional District, receiving 6% of the votes in the Republican primary.

McFeeter’s campaign focuses on several key elements.

  • Educational Reform: He proposes a comprehensive overhaul of the education system, emphasizing discipline, critical thinking, and practical skills. One notable suggestion includes integrating veterans into schools to help restore order and discipline.

  • Economic Independence: McFeeter supports initiatives aimed at boosting local production of food, medicine, and energy, with the goal of reducing Alabama’s reliance on external entities.

  • Challenging Established Benefits: He has criticized the entrenched political and corporate influences in Alabama, arguing that these entities often prioritize power and wealth over the welfare of citizens. McFeeter pledges to confront these forces to ensure that governance works for the people.

  • Pro-Freedom Policy: His platform includes opposition to agendas that he perceives as threats to individual liberties and national sovereignty.

The Alabama Republican primary is set for May 19, 2026, where McFeeter will be competing against U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville.
