Andrew Sorrell Campaign Announcement
Republican Secretary of State Andrew Sorrell has reported a substantial donation total of $50,027 within the first 12 days of his campaign, based on his initial financial report.
Sorrell believes this amount could set a state record, especially when compared to earlier donations of $13,000 and $38,481 from other candidates in the same office. Notably, these figures do not include transfers from pre-existing campaign accounts.
Expressing gratitude, Sorrell stated, “The pouring of support into our campaign is deeply appreciated and doubles my resolve to continue serving Alabama as the next Secretary of State.” He emphasized the importance of grassroots efforts for political success, pledging to maintain outreach and promote a conservative Christian message as he travels across the state.
Currently, when factoring in a personal loan from his previous campaign, Sorrell shows a cash balance of $270,013.16 for this race.
As a state auditor, Sorrell has made choices aimed at benefiting the people of Alabama, such as declining the use of state vehicles, relocating staff to more affordable workspaces, and opting not to fill an administrative assistant position.
Sorrell has been actively campaigning to become Alabama’s next Secretary of State since February. “I’m running for Secretary of State because I care about the integrity of the election,” he remarked. While acknowledging the progress under past administrations, he expressed a desire to continue enhancing Alabama’s election processes, noting that while the system is strong—voters use photo IDs and paper ballots on Election Day—there’s always room for improvement.
Previously, during his tenure in the Alabama House of Representatives, Sorrell earned the “Conservative Policy Warrior” award from the Alabama Institute of Policy Studies and achieved a perfect score on the American Conservative Union rating scale.
In addition to his political career, Sorrell is also a successful entrepreneur, having launched his first business at 16. Currently, he runs four Alabama-based companies, employing about 20 individuals.
