Rep. Robert Adderholt Honored with Quincy Jones Exceptional Advocacy Award

Rep. Robert Adderholt, noted for his dedication to enhancing the lives of individuals with Down Syndrome, received the esteemed Quincy Jones Exceptional Advocacy Award.

The award was given to Aderholt (R-Haleyville) during the Global Down Syndrome Foundation’s annual gala on Wednesday evening.

At the event, Aderholt shared the stage with special guests, including Julia Green, an intern in his Washington office.

Julia, who was there with her father, Bill Green, played a key role in the Adderholt team this past spring.

In his speech, the congressman referred to Julia as “a brilliant example of what global acceptance embodies: perseverance, possibilities, and promises.”

This award, named after the famous music producer Quincy Jones, was established to honor his advocacy work for individuals with Down Syndrome, sparked by the birth of his daughter who has the condition.

“It’s deeply humbling to receive the Quincy Jones Exceptional Advocacy Award,” Adderholt expressed. “Being recognized by such a significant organization that empowers individuals with Down Syndrome is an honor I truly value.”

“Every person is wonderfully and uniquely made in the image of God. Individuals with Down Syndrome remind us all of this truth. Their joy, resilience, and contributions greatly enrich our communities and reaffirm the dignity of every human life.”

Notable previous recipients include members of Congress, prominent media figures, and leading activists from around the globe.

The foundation is actively involved in research, healthcare, and advocacy, striving for inclusion and equity for individuals with Down Syndrome nationwide.

“From the Congressional Hall of Fame to the heart of our community,” Adderholt remarked, “we should uphold the belief that every life has value.”
