Nick Saban’s Retirement Insights
Former Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban has drawn attention since he announced his retirement following the 2023 season.
While Saban has been engaged with college media and various television work, fans recently got a glimpse into his home life from the man himself, revealing updates about his routine with his wife, Miss Terry.
In a conversation with SEC analyst Paul Feinbaum during a local Birmingham pro-am event, Saban shared some humorous insights.
“On the day I retired, Miss Terry gave me ten commandments to retirement. Within a week she told me that ten alone wasn’t enough.”

Saban mentioned with a chuckle, “I’m not really the best at things I’m told to do. On my retirement day, Terry laid down ten commandments. But after just a week, she realized ten might not cut it.”
He expressed that it wasn’t merely the chaotic landscape of college football that drove him out of coaching. Instead, he noted that his age was starting to weigh on him.
“I didn’t leave coaching because of the situation. It was really about my age. I felt it was starting to impact the program, and I didn’t want to interfere. I believe the Alabama team is in good hands now,” Saban stated.
It seems that while Saban doesn’t regret stepping away from coaching, he might have underestimated just how extensive Terry’s to-do list for him really was.
