PHOENIX — Cooler and rainy weather forecast for this week. A former Mesa police officer has been charged with a felony and arrested after a man took his child’s phone and swam in his town’s lake in Tempe.

Rainfall brings cooler temperatures back to the valley this week
After a weekend of warm, sunny weather, rain and cooler temperatures are returning to the Valley.
Sunday’s high was 76 degrees Celsius, but Monday’s high is expected to drop to 58 degrees, with a low of 43 degrees. Phoenix National Weather Service.
Showers and thunderstorms will start after 11 a.m. with a 50% chance of precipitation, according to the NWS.
The valley receives less than a tenth of an inch of rain and can be much more during thunderstorms.
Former Mesa police officer charged with felony
A grand jury has indicted a former Mesa police officer on two counts of felony endangerment after an incident last summer.
According to a press release issued by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, during a traffic stop on July 2, then-police officer Keiron Hall allegedly fired two shots at a parked car.
Hall pulled over near Country Club Drive and MacEllipse Road because his car had turned. ABC15He tried to get the driver out of the vehicle, but the driver resisted and drove away.
Tempe police arrest man who swam in lake and stole child’s phone
Police on Friday arrested a man who stole a child’s cell phone, beat a police officer and jumped into Tempetown Lake authorities.
Officers responded to a call of a man assaulting a pedestrian near Block 600 of Tempe Town Lake around 2:45 p.m., Tempe Police said in a press release.
Upon arrival, police learned that the man allegedly took the child’s phone by force.
Upcoming events to mark the 10th anniversary of the Hotshots tragedy
This summer marks the 10th anniversary of the Yavapai County Yarnell Hill fire that claimed the lives of 19 members of the Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshots.
To honor the man who died on June 30, 2013, the Granite Mountain Hotshots Memorial Team is planning two events for June 30 this year.
The first event will be a private memorial service for the Granite Mountain family that morning at the Arizona Pioneer Home Cemetery in Prescott.
Boy dies after hit-and-run in Phoenix, suspect’s vehicle unsolved
A teenage boy died Saturday night after being hit by a truck lifted in a hit-and-run, officials said.
Police arrived in the Thomas Road and 67th Street area around 5 p.m. and found a boy with serious injuries on the street, Phoenix Police said in a press release.
Phoenix Fire took the boy to the hospital, but he died from his injuries.
