ICE Clarifies LA Mayor Karen Bass’ Concerns About Masked Officers

ICE Criticizes Mayor Bass Over Masked Agents

On Thursday, the Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) issued a strong critique of Mayor Karen Bass regarding the use of masks by agents during operations targeting illegal immigration. Bass had recently made an announcement indicating her intention to expose the identities of ICE agents engaged in immigration enforcement in California via the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

In a discussion with MSNBC, she questioned, “Who are these masked individuals going around our city, apprehending people off the streets?” The response from ICE highlighted the ongoing threats and violence faced by their agents, suggesting it was a necessary measure for their protection.

ICE’s official account addressed Bass’s comments, asserting that their agents are simply fulfilling their duties by detaining individuals who have violated immigration laws. They also insinuated that her remarks were more about seeking political attention than concern for the law.

In recent developments, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) revealed a staggering nearly 700% increase in assaults against ICE officers this year. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem noted that attacks have surged by 830% compared to the previous year.

Bass, known for her strong opposition to U.S. Customs and immigration policies, has previously filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration over ICE raids in Los Angeles. She was also present during a raid at MacArthur Park, where government officials advised reporters to leave the vicinity.

Interestingly, the Daily Caller News Foundation uncovered potential ties between Bass’s administration and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Furthermore, Bass and other California officials are under scrutiny for their handling of recovery efforts following devastating wildfires that destroyed thousands of homes earlier this year.
