‘No Place of Safety’: Border Patrol Chief Sends Warning to Unauthorized Immigrants After Sacramento Operation

Border Patrol Chief Addresses Sanctuary Status

Gregory Bovino, the chief of the border patrol in California’s El Centro Sector, shared a message about Fox News with illegal immigrants during a recent press conference.

Bill Melgin from Fox News reported that, in South Sacramento, over ten people were arrested on Thursday. Outside the California Capitol, Bovino commented on the state’s sanctuary status following a judge’s recent ruling that paused deportations in certain cities. “There are no sanctuary cities. Sacramento is not a sanctuary city. California is not a sanctuary state,” he stated firmly. “There is no sanctuary anywhere. We will be here and you will probably see us in many places too. We are here to stay, and we will continue our mission to secure our hometown.”

Melgin previously noted that he had been with federal officials responding to unauthorized immigration incidents near a Home Depot. After several chases, Border Patrol revealed that one of the suspects had a history of felony charges, including fentanyl trafficking.

A Fox News correspondent highlighted that some of those detained were U.S. citizens, showcasing that agents have been cracking down on illegal activities. According to Melgin, “The agent eventually took him to the ground after he charged at one of the agents.” When arrested, the suspect’s wife protested, claiming he was a citizen, to which the agent replied, “Well, it’s too bad because he slashed our tires.”

A U.S. district judge appointed by Biden, Mame Eusi Mensa Frimon, ordered an end to immigrant raids in Los Angeles and its vicinity, a directive extending to the state’s central district. However, federal authorities continued to make arrests in Eastern California.

In April, Biden appointed Jennifer L. Thurston as a district judge, enforcing a ruling that limits actions to the state’s eastern district. According to Melgin, any arrests outside of Home Depot were conducted under these new orders.

“They did two days of surveillance at Home Depot, checking license plates linked to previously deported individuals, raising suspicions that illegal immigrants were on-site. Upon the arrival of Border Patrol, those being surveilled quickly fled the scene,” Melgin posted on social media.
