Trump’s Approval Among Republicans Steady Despite Controversy

Republican strategist Scott Jennings recently commented on a former campaign spokeswoman for President Kamala Harris, stating that she seems to be living in a “fantasy.” This comes amidst criticism from some supporters of Donald Trump toward him and Attorney General Pam Bondi regarding their handling of the Epstein Files. Trump’s stance on this issue has sparked some renewed approval among his base, which Jennings highlighted in a conversation with Elrod.

“CNN reported this morning that since the Epstein saga began, Trump’s approval rating among Republicans has actually increased,” Jennings noted. “He’s now above 90% with them. So clearly, this isn’t affecting his base negatively. I get that you’re a Democrat strategist, but that doesn’t mean you fully grasp the MAGA dynamic.” Jennings was addressing the perception that Trump might be losing support amid ongoing controversies.

Elrod replied, expressing frustration over the vocal opposition within Trump’s base but Jennings countered, “But look at what’s happening. His numbers are up. Even while we’re tangled in this drama, he’s out there making moves in places like Pennsylvania. It’s almost as if Democrats have been underestimating him since January.” This reflects a broader sentiment that Trump’s position remains strong even during challenging times.

CNN’s data reporter, Harry Enten, also remarked that Trump’s backing among Republicans has risen since the Epstein issue became a topic of discussion again. “I was a bit surprised by this,” he said. “You’d think his approval might drop given all the controversy surrounding him, but instead, it’s gone up. Previous polls show 87% approval among Republicans; now it’s 90%. His ratings have climbed since this entire Epstein situation started.”

Trump has also experienced a series of recent legislative wins, from signing a settlement bill on July 4th to achieving tax cuts back in 2017 and benefiting from a Supreme Court decision.

In a related development, the U.S. took military action against facilities linked to Iran’s nuclear ambitions earlier in June.

On Thursday, Trump shared an update on Truth Social, stating he had asked Bondi to request court permission to release his grand jury transcript concerning the Epstein case. Bondi mentioned on social media that the Department of Justice plans to move to seal these documents on Friday.
