‘Significant Impact On Democrats’: Matt Towery Anticipates Mamdani Could Make Pollsters Alter Their Data Collection Methods Permanently

Impact of Zoran Mamdani’s Rise on Democratic Politics

On a recent appearance on Fox News, Matt Towerley suggested that the emergence of politicians like Zoran Mamdani, a socialist-democratic candidate for New York City mayor, might significantly alter how pollsters evaluate American voters and Democrats.

Mamdani won the Democratic primary in June, garnering some support from Democrats while others have yet to officially endorse him. During his segment on “Ingraham’s Angle,” Towerley cautioned that the focus on political egoism could jeopardize New York City’s stability, asserting that Mamdani’s rise is shaping the future of the Democratic Party.

“I need to point out something about Mamdani. I keep saying this is pushing the Democrats towards change,” Towerley remarked to host Laura Ingraham. “In the future, when pollsters look at votes, they won’t just label candidates as Democrats; in several states, they might also include ‘Democratic socialists’ alongside their names.”

He expressed that democratic socialism has clearly carved out a distinct political space within the larger Democratic Party.

“Democrats are a party, and I support them. But this isn’t about the Centrists trying to rescue the party. They are being influenced by this man’s rise. I think we could see a merger or significant divide that would greatly affect Democrats,” Towerley continued.

When asked if there are those who back both Mamdani and former President Donald Trump, he responded, “There might be a few. I can’t really grasp how that happens; it’s strange. Yet you’re dealing with egos in the current race. I think political egoism might ultimately undermine New York City.”

After Mamdani’s victory, concerns from both parties have dominated headlines. His proposals, including higher taxes for wealthier, predominantly white neighborhoods, and his ambiguous stance on comments regarding “globalization of intifadas,” have drawn criticism from lawmakers.

Despite the concerns surrounding Mamdani’s potential influence on the city, former Democrat Congressman Jamal Bowman praised him, calling him the future of the party and stating that “socialism” had been misused as an “anti-American” label.

However, dissent exists within the party, with figures like Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman expressing that Mamdani’s platform is “substantially” at odds with their principles.
