Somerton, AZ (KYMA, KECY) – Potential fraud is emerging as local farmers apply for “alibio” stimulus checks.
Alivio is a USDA program that provides $600 in subsidies to eligible agricultural and poultry workers.
Campesinos Sin Fronteras and approved institutions are not individuals and are the only institutions authorized to assist in completing the application.
At least four farm workers were defrauded of $50 to register, according to the San Luis Police Department.
“Completing the application is completely free. No one should charge you. Completing the application and making sure your organization is listed is important because you qualify for USDA. is,” said Campesinos Sin Fronteras. Program coordinator Edward Sanchez.
The only organizations approved by the USDA to complete the Alivio application in Yuma County are Campesinos Sin Fronteras and Comite De Bienestar.
