A Review of DCNF’s Coverage of ‘The Charlie Kirk Show’ During His Last Months

In the final months of Charlie Kirk’s life, “The Charlie Kirk Show” was frequently covered by the Daily Caller News Foundation, focusing on his thoughts on politics and current events.

Since Kirk’s tragic death on September 10th, several friends, including JD Vance, radio host Glenn Beck, and Tucker Carlson, have stepped in as guest hosts to pay tribute to him. Kirk often critiqued the UK, made fun of former Democratic National Committee vice-chairman David Hogg, and expressed hope that former President Donald Trump could reconcile with Elon Musk.

During a trip to the UK, Kirk had some strong words. He seemed to feel a mix of nostalgia and disappointment about his homeland. “It’s tragic. I don’t say this lightly; it’s sad. England is the reason we exist. It feels cold and depressing… They transmitted the concept of freedom of speech back to us,” he stated, acknowledged the issues within England but noted that America had its own set of problems worth appreciating. “When there’s an issue, we believe we can tackle it… there’s this grit, this pioneer spirit. In England, they seem defeated, almost resigned,” he reflected.

In another instance, Kirk took a jab at Hogg for praising Democrat Texas Representative Jasmine Crockett during an interview. He sarcastically announced that he was ready to support Crockett’s political aspirations and even mentioned starting a Super PAC for her campaign. He poked fun at Hogg’s appearance, stating, “Look at that Titan. Those biceps are booming.” He continued, characterizing Hogg as lacking the backbone to stand firm in his beliefs, stating he was “always pandering” and was not the kind of leader needed.

On the topic of Trump and Musk, Kirk speculated on a potential reconciliation. He noted that relationships can shift dramatically, citing examples of past animosities that later transformed into alliances, like Trump’s newfound cordiality with Ron DeSantis after a period of public rivalry.

During his turn as host, Vance shared heartfelt moments with Kirk’s widow, Erica, emphasizing Kirk’s dedication as a husband and father. Beck, emotional as ever, honored Kirk by showing off his golden microphone while addressing the empty seat he once occupied. Carlson also reflected on the first time he met Kirk, recalling his initial uncertainty but how Kirk eventually won him over.
