Imperial Valley – Around the same time, four people in Arizona were pulled over for taking fentanyl tablets.
As the police stopped the car, the police K9 warned the officers that it smelled of drugs. While conducting a search of the vehicle, police confirmed that the driver had hidden 11.839 ounces of fentanyl tablets inside the vehicle.
Around the same time, another vehicle was stopped for suspicious driving in the area. The police pulled over and her K9 in the police was able to sniff out the drugs. Officers found approximately 15.07 ounces of fentanyl tablets hidden inside the vehicle.
As a result, Pablo Vazquez, 43, Arizona, Julio Bustos, 48, Arizona, and Xavier Matas, 36, Arizona, were arrested at the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office jail. Their bail was set at his $50,000 for illegal transport and possession of drugs.
The case will be submitted to the Imperial County District Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution.
The Brawley Police Department has been reminding the community that fentanyl is a synthetic opioid up to 50 times more potent than heroin and 100 times more potent than morphine. Cartels disguise the drug as pills and candy to trick young people and teenagers into using it.
