The 2025 Oscar nominations were announced Thursday, revealing that films about transgender identity received the most nominations.
The Spanish-language and French-produced film “Emilia Perez” has been nominated for 13 Oscars, including best picture and best actress for transgender actor Carla Sofia Gascón. Gascón had a historic moment of awakening as the first transgender actor to be nominated for an Oscar. It’s official, folks, we’re getting ready for another goddamn awards ceremony, and it’s definitely going to eat up more than two hours of our lives that we’ll never get back.

For some reason, Hollywood is trying to hurt us with the Oscars, even as wildfires continue in California and many previously scheduled entertainment events have been canceled. They intend to proceed with the show as planned, but it appears they will also be moving forward with new agenda items in the process.
The Mexican trans crime musical is an interesting choice to lead the Oscar nominations considering the current climate. When Donald Trump took back the presidency, he immediately criticized organized crime and transgender ideology in Mexico. So it’s easy to question Oscar’s intentions in taking the bold step of promoting Emilia Perez as a front-runner for the Academy Awards ceremony.
In 2025, this woke agenda seems to be pervasive throughout award show culture. At January’s Golden Globe Awards, “Emilia Perez” won Best Motion Picture, Best Musical and Best Comedy, with director Gascon taking home the night’s top award.
“Wicked” trails “Emilia Perez” with just 10 nominations. (Related: Transgender woman sneaks into Victoria’s Secret fashion show)
