One woman claimed she had been trying to have sex with her boyfriend in a car when a group of illegal immigrants stormed into her vehicle and demanded that she drive.
According to documents filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, Jackie Nicole Hall and John Christopher Ramirez were indicted earlier this month on one count of conspiracy to transport illegal immigrants after they were arrested while driving with migrants in the Big Bend region of Texas. Hall was also charged with felony assault on a Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) officer. According to the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, the charges stem from an incident on July 7 when a camera captured a red Kia sedan traveling near the Mexican border west of Presidio, Texas, an area known as “one of the most notorious smuggling routes.” Border Patrol agents stopped the vehicle and conducted an immigration search of all occupants aboard.
According to the complaint, five people were seen jumping out of the vehicle as soon as it came to a stop. Border Patrol agents determined that the driver and front seat passenger, Ramirez and Hall, respectively, were U.S. citizens and transported them to the Presidio Border Patrol Station for further investigation.

In his testimony to federal investigators, Hall denied knowingly smuggling migrants and claimed he was simply looking to “watch the sunset” and have some intimate time with Ramirez.
When asked where she planned to watch the sunset in the Big Bend area, Hall replied, “We were just going to take a little drive and mess around,” according to court documents. When asked why they engaged in sex on a highway where privacy is limited, she replied, “People like a little risk sometimes.” (Related story: Pro-sanctuary city Democrats complain that ICE didn't notify local police before arrests)
Just as they were about to goof around, Hall alleged in court documents, “several individuals appeared out of nowhere, opened the doors of the Kia, climbed inside, and instructed Ramirez to 'drive.'” Fearing for their safety, Ramirez and Hall allegedly complied with the group's demands.
But Ramirez gave a different account of what happened in his testimony.
According to court documents, Ramirez admitted to driving with Hall from Odessa, Texas, to Presidio to smuggle the illegal immigrants. He said this was his fourth time transporting illegal immigrants with Hall in the Big Bend area.
Hall initially allowed HSI agents to search her phone, but after they found a contact number for “Boss,” she allegedly claimed it was simply a nickname for her cousin, and then, at the end of the interrogation, “aggressively” reached out to try and get her phone back, physically assaulting the agent in the process.
Texas officials, along with other Republican-led states, are trying to crack down on illegal immigration in the face of White House inaction amid a crisis.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed a bill into law last year that allows state and local authorities to arrest aliens who are in the U.S. illegally, but it is on hold as the Biden administration tries to strike down the law in court, arguing that the issue is solely within the federal government's purview.
