Active Work Week! | News

After a brisk Mother’s Day, thunderstorms are expected every day this week, with highs in the low to mid-90s expected in the warmest areas.

Humidity continues to pour into Arizona and will continue all week. Another storm is coming this afternoon and evening. The most active locations today include most of Pima, Pinal, and Santa Cruz counties, with some storms also occurring east of Tucson. Effects include strong gusts of thunderstorms, dust, small hail, and lightning strikes. The possibility of some severe storms cannot be completely ruled out. If you plan to be outdoors, watch out for lightning. Don’t forget to go indoors when there is thunder.

The sporadic storm will continue to develop throughout the weekday afternoon, giving much of southeastern Arizona time for rain. In most cases, the total volume is only 0.10 inch in Tucson and increases to about 0.25 inch to 0.30 inch in the East. Some isolated spots may have even more. For example, some isolated spots in Cochise County detected trace amounts of 0.40 inches to 0.40 inches. It was 0.50 inches yesterday!

Temperatures will rise to the mid-90s at the start of the work week, followed by a downward trend later in the week. Temperatures will start to rise again as the humidity gradually drops heading into the weekend.

  • Today: Several afternoon storms (30%). High: 94°
