Investigation into Adam Schiff
Laura Ingraham from Fox News shared on Tuesday that the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Maryland is looking into Senator Adam Schiff from California over accusations of mortgage fraud.
This inquiry follows a previous report from a month ago, where the Federal Housing and Finance Agency (FHFA) referred Schiff’s case to the Department of Justice (DOJ). The allegations involve claims that Schiff and his wife manipulated bank documents and property records to secure better loan conditions.
The FHFA has suggested that Schiff and his spouse incorrectly declared their Maryland home as their primary residence. They reportedly maintained this misrepresentation through several refinancing transactions from 2003 to 2019, a period during which Schiff was serving as a representative for California.
Moreover, Schiff has advocated for a tax exemption for homeowners concerning apartment buildings in Burbank, California, stipulating that their Maryland property was their main residence. The FHFA’s referral points to possible infringements of federal laws, including wire fraud, mail fraud, bank fraud, and providing false statements to financial institutions.
In November 2023, CNN noted that Schiff claimed both his Maryland home and Burbank condominiums as his primary residence. He remarked, “I think almost every member of Congress lives in the state. We think that during the majority of the week, people make family decisions where they give birth,” in reference to this situation.
As of now, Schiff’s office has not provided any remarks in response to the inquiries made by the Daily Caller News Foundation.
